REACH: Responsible European & African Changemakers

REACH project is a step further to the cooperation, development and youth empowerment. It is a continuation of the successfully implemented project YES WE CARE. The main goal is to promote youth empowerment through volunteering opportunities and social entrepreneurship examples in Africa. For us, it is important to inspire young people to become job creator and not job seekers and also at the same time to support the development of youth work on other continents.

Mladiinfo Slovensko is cooperating on the project together with partners from Uganda, Kenya, Spain, Romania, North Macedonia and the Czech Republic. This project has been co-founded by Erasmus+ program under the Agreement No. 619048-EPP-1-2020-1-SK-EPPKA2-CBY-ACPALA.

Let’s promote social entrepreneurship among young people and break different stereotypes related to Africa and Europe with us!

The project logo underlines the project goals:

  • it has the shape of Africa to highlight the venue of project and volunteering mobility
  • the colourful palette symbolises the diversity of African continent
  • the hands are symbol of  “reaching out” towards each other, thus, strengthening the collaboration

Project Activities

16.-18. March 2021

The primary goal of the kickoff meeting was to facilitate mutual cooperation and knowledge sharing between partner organizations. Moreover, our purpose is to ensure the effective implementation of the project during its entire duration. Throughout three days, we discussed various questions, but mainly we managed to resolve current issues regarding the next cooperation and coordination of security-related activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. You can read more about the kick-off meeting in English here and in Slovak here.

October-November 2021

Training in the field of volunteering programs and social innovation. Train the trainers will be focused on the youth workers both from Europe and Africa, when following topics will be covered, for example Security, Crisis management, Mentorship, Responsibilities and many more. The training course will serve as the preparation for the coordinators from Europe including also direct experience from the ground and that would help them to prepare the volunteers better for their volunteering projects in both Uganda and Kenya.

8 European participants will be selected to do 90 days of voluntary service in the selected hosting organisations or social enterprises. The main idea is that the volunteers would help out in impact-oriented organisations  as well as to increase the awareness about the need of social innovations.

More information about volunteering opportunities will be published soon!

The evaluation meeting that will take place in North Macedonia, where the 7 participants from the partner organizations will take part., we will review the activities, their impact and progress, and will try to assess the need of follow-up activities.
